The Federal Hockey League will gain the Carolina Thunderbirds for their up coming season, but earlier this week the Berlin River Drivers suspended operations after just two years of existence. Berlin finished in last place its first season, but lost in the finals this past season to Danville in a series that went the full five games. Current league membership will remain at seven teams, including the Port Huron Prowlers.
