Mariners Slip By Tigers

Ben Gamel hit an RBI single in the top of the ninth off Francisco Rodriguez, lifting the Seattle Mariners to a 2-1 win over the Detroit Tigers on Thursday at Comerica Park.  For the second day in a row Detroit was held to just four hits, with Tyler Collins collecting three.  Collins had a pair of doubles and scored the lone Tigers run on an error.  Justin Verlander went seven innings, allowing an unearned run, and striking out eight.  The Tigers try to end a two game slide on Friday, when they host the White Sox in the first game of a three game series.
