DTE Energy has filed for a property tax reduction for its Fermi 2 nuclear plant with the Michigan Tax Tribunal. If approved, that could cut property taxes in Monroe County by 60%. The county would lose almost $11.6 million with their sought after devaluation. Additionally, the company is looking to devalue their Monroe Power Plant which would result in another $12 million loss in taxes. Officials in Monroe County say such loses would be devastating the community. DTE Energy also operates the St. Clair and Belle River Power Plants in St. Clair County’s East China Township
