An anchor store at the Birchwood Mall in Fort Gratiot Township will be closing its doors later this year. Macy’s Inc. has decided to close the local store as a part of 100 other closings nationwide. Macy’s shared the information on the closing with employees January 3rd. The retailer says it has been, “reviewing its real estate portfolio across the country,” and that full time employees will be eligible for severance. Macy’s tells WPHM there is no set date for a closing but they anticipate the Fort Gratiot location remaining open through mid-March.
