Keewahdin beach closed due to bacteria

Elevated bacteria levels have closed one area beach. The St. Clair County Health Department Wednesday issuing a swimming advisory for Keewahdin Beach in Fort Gratiot. Water testing indicated E. coli levels in the water are above the acceptable range as set by the State of Michigan. The bacteria is a common microbe that is found in the digestive systems of animals and could pose a health risk. Beach goers are discouraged from using the beach until levels return to their normal levels.
