
A Lexington business will soon be expanding, thanks to some help from a state economic program. Gielow Pickles is one of three Michigan companies that will soon receive funding from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, according to a statement made yesterday by Governor Whitmer. The 5th generation pickled foods manufacturer employs 172 people in Michigan, and state funding will allow for the addition of 100 more. The company also plans to use the new funding to expand its operations in Lexington by building a new facility. With the help of a $1 million performance-based award from the Michigan Business Development Program. The Sanilac Region Economic Consortium has pledged to support the business in attracting and hiring skilled workers as well as in housing programs that will increase the number of housing options available to the local workforce.
