Local activist Marcia Haynes dies at 90

Port Huron businesswoman, activist, and preservationist Marcia Haynes has died. Haynes played a critical role in the founding of the Port Huron Museum including the preservation of the Carnegie Library in 1968. She also spearheaded efforts to preserve the Round Island Lighthouse in the Straits of Mackinac which in the early 1970s fell into disrepair. Haynes was the founder of the local Dementia and Alzheimer’s Resource committee and most recently lead efforts to preserve the Pere Marquette Railroad Bridge. Marcia Haynes was 90 years old.
