School districts and their boards may consider banning guns after a ruling by the Michigan Supreme Court. In a 4-3 decision released late last week, justices solidified a school district’s ability to ban weapons. The decision came after two groups sued the Clio and Ann Arbor districts whose boards had approved policies banning gun owners from carrying guns on school property. State law prohibits concealed weapons in schools. The attorney who argued against the ban says while there are no other options for court action, the legislature should address the issue.
