Some upgrades could be coming to an area beach and boat launch, funded in part by local donors and a Michigan Department of Natural Resources Grant. Port Huron Mayor Pauline Repp says the much needed improvements will be used on the Riverside Boat Launch and Lighthouse Beach. Repp says the city will need to procure donations in order to provide matching funds for the grants. She says the grant for Lighthouse Beach will be for $100,000 with a $100,000 local match. The Riverside Boat launch grant is for $300,000 but the city would need to find $400,000 in matching funds. Repp also says the city was approached by a group seeking to build a memorial for a World War Two Tuskegee Airman who lost his life in a plane crash during training over Lake Huron. She says the memorial would be located in the International Flag Plaza near the Blue Water Bridge
