No injuries are being reported after a fire broke out yesterday at the historic Dorsey House restaurant in Clyde Township. The blaze was reported shortly after 2:30 p.m. while the business was closed for scheduled repairs and renovations.
Firefighters from at least five area townships responded to the scene, bringing the fire under control in just over an hour. Officials say the damage was contained to the restaurant’s main bar area, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Despite the setback, the restaurant quickly turned its attention to helping others. Rather than letting food go to waste because of the fire, the owners donated their remaining inventory to Port Huron’s Mid City Nutrition soup kitchen, ensuring it could be used to provide meals for those in need.
In a statement shared on social media, the owners also thanked firefighters, first responders, neighboring businesses, friends, family, and community members for the outpouring of support following the fire as cleanup and recovery efforts begin.
