A $122 million budget could be adopted by the City of Port Huron during Monday’s regular session city council meeting. The spending plan will be for both the City of Port Huron and the Downtown Development Authority. According to City Manager James Freed it is largely unchanged from the previous year.

The city also plans to spend more of their federal American Rescue Plan (ARP) windfall. $175,000 will go towards façade improvements in the downtown area via the DDA. Another $380,000 is slated for the Child Abuse and Neglect Council for services to City of Port Huron children. Mid City Nutrition will receive $38,000 for the purchase and installation of a generator at their under construction new building.

There will also be a pair of public hearing for a new obsolete property rehabilitation act district for the 1100 block of 7th Street. If approved, it would cap property taxes at the current rate for 9 years. The owners of the former First congregational Church property plan to turn it into a medical center. Port Huron City Council meets at 7pm tonight at the Municipal Office Center.
