New COVID-19 cases, outbreaks reported over the past week

A total of 15 school buildings in St. Clair County are being labeled by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services as ongoing coronavirus school outbreaks and over 100 new outbreaks have been reported statewide. East China School’s Pine River Elementary School is the newest local school building to be added to that list, with three students testing positive for the virus as of yesterday. Ongoing school outbreaks are also being reported in the Algonac, Marysville, and Port Huron Area School District in St. Clair County. There are five currently reported outbreaks at school buildings in Sanilac County, including Deckerville, Sandusky, Brown City, and the Sanilac County ISD. The state health department has confirmed more than 9300 new COVID-19 cases over the past three days. The number of cases averages out to be approximately 31-hundred per day state wide and 65 deaths were reported over that same period of time.
