Man arrested after shots fired early Thursday morning

Port Huron Police are investigating a shooting that occurred during the early morning hours Thursday. According to Police Chief Joe Platzer, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 2500 block of Wright Street in Port Huron shortly after midnight. A 47 year old Marine City man is believed to have fired a handgun at a 48 year old man from Port Huron and his vehicle. The victim not injured and his vehicle was not struck by gunfire. Later that morning, around 4:30am, police located the suspect a home in the 500 block of Belle River Avenue in Marine City. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and Marine City Police and other state and local agencies assisted in the arrest. The shooting is believed to have stemmed from a threat that was made by the suspect again the victim. The suspect is lodged in the St. Clair County Jail on charges of attempted murder and felony firearms. His identity will be released pending arraignment.
