Southern St. Clair County corridor eyed for development

St. Clair County officials are looking at whether significant infrastructure improvements are needed along the Marine City Highway corridor in southern St. Clair County. County Administrator Karry Hepting says last week the County Board of Commissioners voted to look into what projects might be necessary. “The board has already begun meeting with those local municipal governments that could be effected, it’s been really well received,” said Hepting, adding that it could lead to more development in the area.

Marine City Highway runs east-west from County Line Road to King Road and borders four townships. West of the Macomb County line it is better known as 26 Mile Road. Municipalities in that area will likely need to share funding resources from the federal government in the form of COVID-19 relief and an anticipated infrastructure package. Hepting says the corridor study will identify current infrastructure as well as plan for future capacity, such as added water and wastewater needs.
