There’s a new person in the driver’s seat at Blue Water Area Transit. Longtime general manager Jim Wilson is retiring effective March 1st. Wilson has spent over 40 years in public transportation, 30 of which were at Blue Water Area Transit in Port Huron. Taking Wilson’s place as general manager will be the agency’s assistant GM and finance director David McElroy. The change in leadership was approved by the Blue Water Area Transportation Commission’s Board of Directors February 24th.  McElroy has been with the agency for over a dozen years.  Blue Water Area Transit employees 130 people and has 90 buses in their fleet. The agency also operates the downtown Port Huron transit center and a maintenance facility on Lapeer Road.
