Port Huron parks director could take on county responsibilities

A familiar face may soon be taking the reigns of the St. Clair County Parks and Recreation Department. Nancy Winzer is likely to be named the next director of county parks following current director Mark Brochu’s retirement this year. The St. Clair County Board of Commissioners floated the idea of a shared services agreement at their meeting last week.  “We would be entering into a contract agreement for her (Winzer) to do services for the county as well,” Port Huron Mayor Pauline Repp told WPHM. If approved, Winzer would oversee both the city and county parks department for a period of approximately two years before fully transitioning to the county. At that point, Winzer would retire from the city, with Repp saying a new parks and rec director would need to be named. Parks and recreation is expected to be just one of the goals discussed tonight during the City of Port Huron’s annual goal setting session. It will take place tonight at 6pm via zoom with a link available at www.porthuron.org.
