Port Huron City Officials say they are rejecting a settlement offer from the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration regarding alleged COIVD-19 violations. In October, the city received a $6300 fine from the MIOSHA for not following the governor’s executive orders. The City of Port Huron has contended that they have followed all state and federal protocols and therefor should not have to pay the fine. City Attorney Todd Shoudy calls the citations “legally and factually baseless” and “unfairly issued.” City Manager James Freed says the city, “Cannot agree to settle for something we didn’t do,” and says there have been no cases of workplace transmission of COVID-19 in the City of Port Huron.
