In Governor Whitmer’s last address before Christmas, Michigan health officials announced the easing of some coronavirus restrictions starting Monday, December 21st. School districts in the state will be allowed to resume in person learning at high schools and some indoor gatherings will be allowed to resume. Casinos, theaters, and bowling alley will be allowed to reopen as long as capacity remains under 100 people. Since masks are ordered to be worn at all times, no food or drink will be allowed to be consumed at these venues.
“I am encouraged by the progress we have made since early November, and will continue to monitor the data closely during and after the holidays,” said Whitmer Friday. The governor cited declining hospital capacity since the initial “pause” in economic activity was announced in November. Indoor residential gatherings remain limited to 10 people. State officials continue to urge families to avoid indoor gatherings and limit interactions to only one other household, especially during the upcoming holidays.
