Lansing lawmakers want to push back the tax filing deadline to mirror that of the Federal government. That new federal deadline is July 15th – but the Michigan tax deadline is still April 15th for the time being. Port Huron State Representative Shane Hernandez, chair of the Michigan House Appropriations Committee, says Governor Whitmer should make the change, and he’s ready to try to get it done in the Legislature if necessary. City of Port Huron officials Monday also made a similar move, pushing the city’s income tax filing deadline back to July 15th as well.
