If there’s any upside to the slide on the stock market, it’s that gas prices have reached their lowest prices in four years. The current statewide average daily gas price is $1.86 per gallon. That’s down 18 cents from last week and 87 cents from last year. Locally, gas is about $1.84 a gallon in Sanilac County. St. Clair and Lapeer County pumps are slightly lower than the statewide average, about $1.80 a gallon. “Pump prices continue to decline as oil prices have decreased significantly in response to the increasing public health and economic impact of COVID-19 and the crude price war between Russia and Saudi Arabia,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson for AAA of Michigan. The least expensive fuel in the state can be found in Southwest Michigan, and the most expensive fuel is in the Central Upper Peninsula.
