This story has been updated to reflect changes at McLaren Port Huron Hospital.

Both Port Huron Area Hospitals will be implementing screening measures to protect residents from the corona virus. Lake Huron Medical Center says they are directing all visitors entering the hospital to use the main entrance where they will be asked screening questions before being allowed to enter the rest of the building. The hospital is also restricting those under 14 years old from visiting and highly recommends those over 65 not to visit the hospital.

McLaren Port  Huron Hospital says they will be restricting visitors until further notice. Exceptions will be made allowing one visitor per patient in the obstetric, pediatric, ICU, and Emergency Room departments. The hospital says visitors should be healthy and must go through a COVID-19 screening process. The screening is designed to identify those who have symptoms of a respiratory infection. No visitors will be allowed in rooms of patients with pending or positive COVID-19 tests.

Outpatient medical provider Physician’s Health Network is also trying to prevent the spread of the virus. Physicians Health Network says those who have traveled to areas impacted by COVID-19 or had close contact with anybody known to have the virus are asked not to enter any of their office. If you suspect that you may have contracted the virus, call your local doctor’s office first for an initial evaluation over the phone before visiting in person.
