Seasonal weight restrictions are now in effect on on state highways across much of the middle part of the lower peninsula. According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, all US and M-Route highways north of I-69 to the tip of the thumb are now under seasonal loading restrictions. Truckers with heavy loads will need to stick to MDOT’s “all-season” routes and will need to reduce their load if traveling on a restricted highway. The seasonal weight restrictions are designed to help protect roadways from damage as the ground begins to thaw.
