There will be a new head at the local United Way in the coming months. Doug Dolph, Executive Director of the St. Clair County United Way, will be retiring at the end of April after seven years of leading the non profit agency. Dolph, speaking to WPHM’s Paul Miller, reflected on some of the accomplishments made at the United Way over the years. He says bringing 2-1-1 access to the county and achieving a four-star rating from Charity Navigator are among his favorite achievements. Dolph says St. Clair County was the last county in Michigan to have the 2-1-1 service available. Those in a emergency situation with housing, food, or utilities can simply call 2-1-1 to be put in touch with community resources. Dolph’s retirement will take place at the St. Clair County United Way’s Annual Meeting on April 30th. Taking his place as executive director will be current campaign director Brent Gillette. The United Way of St. Clair County has over 25 affiliated local organizations providing services from mental health counseling to teaching youth life skills and utility and housing assistance.
