Officials broke ground on a new 44-unit assisted living facility yesterday in Port Huron. Located near the Lake Huron Medical Center campus on Cathrine McAuly Drive, the new Leisure Living Management facility is expected to open in about a year’s time. President and CEO  Neil Kraay told WPHM why they chose to build their 27th facility in Port Huron. “We looked at where particular needs were,” said Kraay. “This site… is part of a medical community already, with a hospital right next door, a doctor’s office, and a nursing  home.” The project, dubbed Bridgewater Terrace Assisted Living will include 30 assisted living units and 14 memory care units. Kraay says his company is also in the process of building a similar facility in St. Clair. Leisure Living has 26 locations in Michigan including Lapeer, Bad Axe, and Sandusky.
