If your Michigan driver’s licenses doesn’t have a yellow star in the upper right hand corner, you may not be able to fly by this time next year. Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is reminding residents to upgrade their license and make sure it is Real ID compliant before October 1st 2020. Federal regulations will require all domestic airline passengers to have such an ID to board a plane. Those who don’t have the yellow Real ID star on their license may want to visit an SOS branch office to get a new card. After October 2020, those without the Real ID will need to show a passport to board a domestic flight. Benson tells WPHM that Real ID is not the same as an enhanced license. An enhanced license can be used to cross the border with Mexico and Canada.  More information can be found on at Michigan.gov/sos
