The Community Foundation of St. Clair County could be transferring operations of the Blue Water River Walk in Port Huron to the St. Clair County Department of Parks and Recreation. Randy Maiers, CEO of the  foundation, tells WPHM it is not the foundation’s long-term goal to operate the parkland along the St. Clair River at Desmond Landing. He says it would be in better hands with county parks, who is also in the process of expanding their wetlands county park adjacent to the river walk. “County parks has been a partner since the beginning of the river walk back in 2010,” said Maiers. “We’re kind of itching to see how that phase of the river walk develops and we’re exploring turning over the daily operations to county parks.” Phase two of the wetlands county park expansion will include a new pavilion, picnic area, and sports activity area.
