I-69 reopens after two truck accident

Westbound I-69 near Emmett has re-opened to traffic after a semi-truck accident Wednesday morning. Slick roads are to blame for the crash that occurred around 2 a.m. this morning near Braidwood Road. A car hauling semi truck jack-knifed on the highway and was t hen struck by an oncoming semi hauling aluminum shavings, causing several tons of aluminum to be scattered across the roadway. I-69 was closed to traffic between M-19 and Riley Center Roads for several hours Wednesday morning for cleanup. According to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s office, the car hauler was coming from Brampton Ontario, heading to Flint. The truck carrying aluminum shavings was coming from London Ontario, heading to Coldwater, Michigan.  Neither driver was injured and both are being cited for careless driving. I-69 has reopened as of 9:20 a.m. this morning.

Westbound I-69 is closed due to an early morning accident. According to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s office, a semi truck hauling cars lost control on the icy highway and jackknifed across both lanes of traffic, closing the highway between M-19 and Riley Center Roads. Another truck, hauling aluminum shavings approached the accident and struck the car hauler causing aluminum shavings to be spilled across the highway. Westbound I-69 is expected to be closed for several hours this morning as the accident is cleaned up. Neither driver was injured and both are being cited for careless driving.
