Fort Gratiot Township will be keeping its current trash removal contractor through at least 2022. That’s according to Fort Gratiot Township Supervisor Jorja Baldwin who says the township received bids last week with only one contractor choosing to participate. Baldwin says current contractor and lone-bidder Marcotte Disposal provided two options to the township ranging in price between $607,000 and $654,000 annually in 2019, with approximately $10,000 increases in years 2 and 4 . Baldwin, speaking to WPHM last week says there will be no change in services however one option includes Marcotte-provided trash and recycling bins and one does not.  Currently 3,708 homes receive recycling and trash services in Fort Gratiot Township. A separate bid was also submitted by Marcotte for trash removal at the city’s parks and office building. A final decision is expected to be made at the November 7th Fort Gratiot Township board of trustees meeting.
