Retiring police chief accepts Metro Detroit job

It’s a changing of the guard at the Port Huron Police Department, as current chief Jeff Baker will be retiring with current captain Joe Platzer slated to take over as chief. Although Baker is leaving Port Huron, he will not be leaving the profession. Baker tells WPHM he has accepted a position with the City of Auburn Hills to be their next Chief of Police. Baker has been with the Port Huron Police Department for the past 25 years. Also retiring will be Fire Chief Dan Mainguy, with Battalion Chief Corey Nicholson selected to take over. The changes in leadership at the Port Huron’s public safety agencies will take place July 1st.
