Recognition given Saturday morning in Port Huron Township's Bakers Field Park for the new Island Loop,  Recently designated as a National Water Trail, the first in the state, the Loop was the object of a lot of hard work and during the ceremony thank you statements for all the help several people and agencies put into the project.  Speakers included U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow and U.S. Congresswoman Candice Miller as well as the county's Lori Eschenburgh who had spearheaded efforts to get the project off the ground.  The route uses the Black river and the canal that connects it to Lake Huron as well as the St. Clair River to provide for a loop for kayak and canoe users.
