The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a felonious assault that occurred in Sanilac Township back on April 19. According to statements from the department released Friday, the assault resulted in one of the subjects sustaining an injury. Deputies were dispatched to McKenzie Memorial Hospital in Sandusky for a 31-year-old male from Clarkston who had sustained a stab wound to the abdomen. The victim was at an Easter family gathering in the Sanilac Township area when an argument started between family members. The argument resulted in the victim being stabbed by a 42-year-old male also from Clarkston. According to Deputy Josh Horst the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle shortly after the incident occurred. The suspect was later located at his home by Oakland County Deputies and arrested for unrelated charges. The suspect will be transported to the Sanilac County Jail upon his release from the Oakland County Jail where he will be arraigned on his charges out of Sanilac County. The victim was treated and released from McKenzie Memorial Hospital the night of the incident. The incident remains under investigation by the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office.
