The game was delayed by bad weather for 57 minutes, but Michigan State opened the season with a 26-13 win over Western Michigan on Friday night in East Lansing. The Spartan defense dominated the contest forcing four turnovers, three via interceptions, and adding seven sacks. The MSU defenders also scored a pair of touchdowns on a returned pick and a returned fumble. On the offensive side of the ball the Spartans struggled, however Jeremy Langford did rush for 94 yards on 20 carriers and a touchdown. Michigan State will host South Florida a week from Saturday.
