Records were broken Monday night as snowfall in the area added just enough inches to rewrite the books.  The National Weather Service says the Flint office now stands at 83.4” of snow which erases a record last set in the mid 70’s. Detroit’s official weather measurement also broke the all time record Tuesday morning at 94.8” of snow for the season which breaks a record set way back in the 1880-1881 season.  This season has also made for new records for the longest consecutive snow cover, 101-days in Flint, and the coldest for the season which was also broken in Flint.  The rest of the week remains below normal for high temperatures with another chance of snow on the weekend.
