He's still there... that's Wally, the American yellow-bellied alligator, at the Cajun Gator restaurant in downtown Port Huron. The establishment saw a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony held Wednesday, with Assistant Manager Ryan Nisbett telling us Wally the Gator acts as a sort of mascot for the place. He says several folks come just to see the gator and then realize the establishment also has some great food. The Cajun Gator offers authentic gumbo, jambalaya, soul food and more. It's been open since late December, but Nisbett says they wanted to work out the kinks and smooth out any wrinkles before holding an official opening. The restaurant is at 321 Huron in downtown Port Huron, the site of the former Huron Athletic Club.
