The United Way of St Clair County continues their campaign to raise funds, for local programs and services, for those in need. The campaign has already seen over $100,000 raised. Officials say it's too early to tell if their goal of raising $1.4-million dollars will prove too ambitious, but campaign volunteer and Assistant Manager of the city of Marysville, Randy Fernandez, says the local area has always come through in the past. Director of the local United Way office, Lonnie Stevens, says about 10-percent of their goal has been raised so far, with DTE Energy and Cargill a couple of the corporate contributors that have come through at this stage. The campaign runs through the end of January. Various events are held, with campaign workers, including an Early Bird Drawing next month. Fundraising events are also popular over the next few months staged by employers, like casual or sneaker days or chili cook offs.
