Tigers Get No-Hit

On the final day of the regular season Henderson Alvarez threw the fifth no-hitter in the history of the Miami Marlins, beating the Detroit Tigers 1-0.  Alvarez had to wait to celebrate until his team finally scored him a run in the bottom of the ninth, when with the bases loaded and two outs, Tigers pitcher Luke Putkonen threw a wild pitch to allow the winning run to score.  The Tigers will begin the playoffs next Friday at Oakland, in game one of a best-of-five series.
