Economic competitiveness and how to make Michigan a better state in which to do business and create jobs... that's the focus for a roundtable session in Port Huron Township today. The discussion will be hosted by local State Rep. Dan Lauwers of Brockway Township, with special guest State Rep. Mike Shirkey, who's the chair of the House Competitiveness Committee. Lauwers says it comes down to economic development and good jobs, in terms of what turns the state around. The discussion will take place from 4:30pm to 6pm at the Port Huron Township Department of Public Works building at 41-34 West Water Street. Small-business owners, local chambers of commerce, elected officials and economic development board members are encouraged to attend.
