The heat is still on today, with an Excessive Heat Warning that stays in effect until tonight. It's a hot and humid air mass that's settled into all of southeast Michigan this week, and the very humid conditions have combined to push temperatures into the mid 90s, resulting in heat indexes around 105 degrees yesterday and today. National Weather Service Forecaster Phil Kurimski says the heat stays hot today, but relief is on the way, but not without a chance for some severe weather also, especially this afternoon into this evening. The St. Clair County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management is reminding residents to be cautious in the extreme heat. Some tips include drinking plenty of water, wearing lightweight and light-colored clothing, and avoiding strenuous activities. Also, safety officials remind us to never leave kids or pets in the car unattended.
