Pitcher Max Scherzer pitched a 1-2-3 first inning, with a strike out. Miguel Cabrera went 1-3 with a double and scored the winning run. Prince Fielder hit a triple in his only at bat, while Jhonny Peralta had a single, and Torii Hunter grounded into a double play in their only at bats of the contest. Detroit returns to action on Friday in Kansas City.
