Over 200 boats will be taking part in this years 89th running of the "Great Race on the Great Lakes"... of course we're talking about the annual yacht race from Port Huron to Mackinac Island. Commodore Kent Colpaert at the Bayview Yacht Club says the excitement level has really ramped up, with just a couple weeks to go before the boats set sail. Colpaert says with Bell's Brewery signing on to sponsor the race through 2016, that means a great deal to all those involved as the company has committed to several years of investment. Boat Week officially kicks off in Port Huron on Wednesday the 17th with the Rotary Club's International Day Parade, which also sees the start of the carnival down by Desmond Landing. Thursday the 18th is Family Night, with Friday the 19th as Boat Night. Then the race starts Saturday following boat night, with a fireworks display Sunday.
