Board of Commissioners in the new Emergency Operations Center
COUNTY BOARD LOOKS AT EOC REVIEWS CONV CENTER
It's getting closer... that's an opening day for the new Hilton Double Tree hotel and the new Freighters restaurant going up near the site of the Blue Water Area Convention Center project along the St. Clair River. The Baker College culinary school is already well underway and almost ready to open their doors, with St. Clair County Board of Commissioners Chair Jeff Bohm telling us the construction work is right on schedule. Late July or early August is pegged for the grand opening. The board held their regular session on the road last night in Kimball Township at the new Emergency Operations Center at the St. Clair County International Airport. The session saw approval of entering into negotiations with the SMG Management group for professional management of McMorran Place, the Blue Water Area Convention Center and the local Convention and Visitors Bureau. Bohm says having everyone under one roof would not only save money, but would also lead to more success with SMG having extensive experience in running arenas and convention centers across the country.
