YLEN FACES BOTH 10 AND 15 YEAR PRISON SENTENCES
Sara Ylen, of Lexington, is bound over to St. Clair County Circuit Court facing charges of filing a false felony report and tampering with evidence. The 38-year old claimed a man sexually assaulted her, at her home in 2001. Further investigations showed the charges were false and were dropped, but not until after the man had already spent ten years behind bars. Ylen is facing up to 10-years in prison, and also faces charges in Sanilac County for fraud, using a computer to commit a crime, and health care fraud. Michigan State Police say, Ylen allegedly was diagnosed with cancer eight years ago, but authorities say none of the physicians identified, by her, actually made the diagnosis. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan also began investigations, after paying out nearly $100-thousand in hospice care for Ylen. She's facing up to 15-years in prison on those medical fraud charges. An arraignment in St. Clair County Circuit is to be scheduled in the next few weeks. She's due back in Sanilac County District Court, July 9th, for her preliminary examination.
