The Detroit Tigers suffered a gut wrentching 3-2 extra inning loss in Kansas City on Wednesday afternoon. Detroit was one strike away from a 2-0 win, when closer Jose Valverde served up a two run home run to Lorenzo Cain that forced extra innings.. Erik Hosmer came through with a game winning RBI single in the tenth inning off Phil Coke to win it for the Royals. Lost was a great uting from Justin Verlander, who allowed no runs and three hits over seven innings with eight strike outs. Prince Fielder and Brayan Pena drove in the Detroit runs. The Tigers play in Minnesota on Friday.
