Miguel Cabrera had three hits, and singled in a run in the ninth to break up a shutout bid, but the Detroit Tigers lost to the Angels 8-1 on Friday night in California. The Angels blew open a close game with five runs in the eighth inning. The Tigers had ten hits and six walks, but hit into three double plays and failed to get a big hit in the first eight innings. Detroit had at least one base runner in every inning except the sixth. Game two of a three game series is Saturday afternoon.
