MPSC APPROVES SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT WITH CHAMPION'S AUTO FERRY

The Michigan Public Service Commission has approved a settlement agreement with Champion's Auto Ferry that will see 2 one dollar rate increases for transportation service to and from Harsens Island.  On Sunday a one dollar rate increase goes into effect, with the funds generated to be used to hire a manager to facilitate the  retirement of Champion's president and CEO David Bryson and to allow for continued operation of the company.  Bryson has previously announced his wish to retire.  A second one dollar rate increase will go into effect January 1st 2014.  The monies collected from the additional increase are for the sole purpose of setting aside funds for fleet renewal or major capital improvements to existing ferries.
