Huskies And Big Reds Skate To Wins



The high school hockey playoffs opened on Monday night at Perani Arena in Flint with Port Huron Northern beating Davison 3-2 and Port Huron High edging Lakeville 4-3.  The Huskies got a goal and an assist from Bryce Vanhorn, who netted the game winning goal with 1:56 to play in the third period.  Jimmy Radatz and Justin VanBuskirk also had goals for Northern, while Erik Olsen and Kyle Truscott each had two assists.  The Huskies will face Port Huron High on Wednesday night in Flint, after the Big Reds topped Lakeville on a late goal from Brendan Conard.  Conard's second goal of the contest came with 1:22 left in the third to give the Big Reds the win.  Dayne Davis and Will Kriewall also scored for the Big Reds.  Wednesday;s winner will face the winner of a game between Anchor Bay and Oxford in the regional finals.
