The St. Clair County Economic Development Alliance held their semi-annual luncheon Tuesday, with special guest speaker Michael Finney of the state's Economic Development Corporation. Local EDA Director Dan Casey spoke with us about how the economy in St. Clair County is seeing a turnaround since the Recession five years ago, and credits the auto industry with helping to spearhead the change for the better. Casey says this year will see even more improvement for the local economy, with several developments leading to more available jobs and expansion of companies, and hints that announcements will be made soon on other employment opportunities. Casey also says Dunn Paper in Port Huron was awarded recently by a regional group as the best exporter in the county. He hopes other firms can learn from the company’s success.
