No. 9 Minnesota scored the final 12 points of the game to beat No. 18 Michigan State on New Years Eve 76-63.  It was the Golden Gophers first home win against the Spartans since 2006.  Michigan State had won four in a row and 12 of 13 against Minnesota.  Overall the Spartans six game win streak was ended.  Keith Appling had 15 points in the loss, while Gary Harris added 12 and Derrick Nix 10.
