Port Huron City Manager Bruce Brown is announcing that they've decided to merge parks and recreation along with the forestry and cemeteries functions into a new Parks and Recreation Department.  Current director of Parks and Rec Nancy Winzer has been appointed to serve as the Director of the new department, with Tim Hickey serving as her second in command.  Brown says the move seemed a natural fit and the two will be able to bring new and exciting programs to residents. Brown says the departments have operated separately for many years and had so many overlapping and conflicting responsibilities that the creation of the new department seemed a natural with lots of potential cost savings.
