A local pastor has passed away of an apparant heart attack while on a trip to Nicaragua. Rev. David Mercer of Hillside Wesleyan Church in Port Huron died early Sunday morning from an apparent heart attack while in Nicaragua. He was in the country on a mission trip with two others from Hillside Church. He would have spoken Sunday morning in the Wesleyan church. The family and Hillside church were informed of the unexpected tragedy on Sunday morning Rev. Mercer was also one of two assistant district superintendents for the East Michigan District of The Wesleyan Church and he served as the church health & fitness director for the district. Hillside Church also recently sent a team with supplies to New York City to assist in the Hurricane Sandy relief work.
